New iMacs with 8 Core i9 ✓ New iMac Pros with Radeon Vega 64X Graphics ✓ In this shopping walkthrough, we take a look at the 2019 releases of Apple's staple all in one, going through the various options and helping you decide if you should max out your iMac config and go all out with a iMac Pro. WHERE TO BUY iMac: http://vtudio.com/a/?a=imac iMac Pro: http://vtudio.com/a/?a=imac+pro iMac vs iMac Pro The iMac now comes with updated 8th and 9th gen CPUs which are a generation up from the 7th gen Xeon CPUs in the iMac Pro. Of course the iMac Pro still packs more potential grunt, but the improvements in the 8th and 9th gen include important things like hevc encoding/decoding/integrated graphics and with the 9th gen in particular fixes to Intel's meltdown bug. For me and my use cases the 9th gen 8 core i9 that's in the iMac is the one to get, however, it may run a little hot and require the fans to run louder as 8 cores going up to 5Ghz, sounds like a hot idea. The iMac is now also configurable with Vega 48 graphics, which wouldn't be as powerful as the options you get in the iMac Pro, which can be configured with a Vega 64X. We don't know for sure whaz the Vega 64X is, but according to leaks from last year, it's built on the same process as the Radeon VII, but includes 4 extra compute units. Overall, it's tricky, the iMac Pro has better features with a built in 10GbE and more Thunderbolt ports, but the iMac can now have a i9 8 core CPU and doesn't include the T2 security enforcement chip... decisions decisions.
